Danger Train: Collision #77 (5)

There was actually a second Danger Train collision yesterday, at Fannin & Rosedale.

Don Gallagher, moderator of the Houston MET yahoo group, noted this in a post.

Although no stories have been posted to link to, John Gaver confirmed the crash with Metro and KPRC-2.

Two crashes in one day seems pretty World Class to me!

That takes us to five for the year/month, and 77 overall (documented).

  • I believe the Texas Transportation Commission was meeting in Houston this week to discuss, among other things, mass transit. MetroRail gave the commission members a nice welcome with three crashes. =)

  • How can they afford to keep fixing the things? Do they have a whole bunch of replacement Danger Trains lying around a warehouse? Is there a bulk discount?

  • They can afford to fix the things because all accidents (except maybe two) have been the "fault" of the drivers, and any needed repair funds come out of their insurance. Talk about a huge increase in premiums.

  • But if Metro were operating a passenger vehicle (car, SUV, truck, etc.) Even after 75 accidents in 16 months without being found at fault (taking out the two where fault was theirs or not determined), they would have been on a high-premium policy, or without insurance at all.

    Too bad Metro’s self-insured.

I’m considering telling my stock advisor to buy Siemens stock, since everytime Metro has an accident, they’re making money on replacement parts.
