Labor Day?
This was the first Labor Day Weekend in several years that I have not been forced to stay in Houston housesitting. Nevertheless, the rain and other circumstances conspired to keep me in town this year, sitting around, doing hardly anything.
Until today. Today, I think I threw off the funk from last month and got back to my usual positive mood. The last month was full of a lot of negativity, mainly at work, but a little bit elsewhere as well, and I hate to be around it because it's hard not to get dragged into it. Today, I just isolated myself from the world (well, aside from Callie and Kiwi) and finished some analysis from work I should have done last month (working on labor day -- there ya go!), revamped the workout routine, actually WENT to the gym for a workout, made my first trip to the grocery store in ages and stocked up on healthy fare, did some cooking (alas, no grilling because of the fear of rain), and numerous other chores that seemed to have been neglected most of August.
I *think* I have everything set up to get a lot of work done this month, especially on the dissertation. Certainly, my attitude is back to normal after an August in which it was not, for the most part.
All of that being said, I think I'll go canoeing or backpacking or something a little more active than WORKING next Labor Day Weekend.
