Culberson Helps Fix My Mail Delivery!
Before I left for Reno/Tahoe, I had made a total of roughly 8 phone calls to 3 different US Postal Service phone numbers and 3 USPS website queries trying to figure out why I had received NO forwarded mail even though I moved at the end of May, and the USPS had sent me a confirmation letter that I was "in the system" weeks ago.
When I got back, I had a couple of yellow-stickered pieces of forwarded mail (finally!) in my mailbox, although they were pieces that had been sent recently. Now I know why: today, I got a cc of a letter from Representative John Culberson's office. His staff was able to get in touch with the right supervisory personnel at the USPS, and apparently is responsible for two answering machine messages from post office branch supervisors and, more importantly, the flow of forwarded mail. Who the hell knows what has happened to the backlog of mail, but I was pleased that his office was able to convince the Postal Service dumbasses to do their jobs, after numerous unsuccessful attempts on my part.
Just a reminder: if you EVER have any problem with a federal office of any type, definitely get your Congressman involved. He wants you to be happy and re-elect him, and his staff exists largely to make that happen! It's some of the best customer service you'll ever find, AND at least you get some satisfaction in knowing that you've gotten SOMETHING for all the taxes the bastards have extracted from you over the years! And Congressmen REALLY like headlines like the one for this journal entry.
