Missed Photos
Even more fun related to the address change. Apparently Time-Warner cable issues a new account number when a person transfers service to a new address. Problem: My online billpay service still had the old account number, meaning I got a surprise when I got an overdue notice from the cable company today. However, I must say that they were very efficient in handling the problem, and it was resolved quickly. This is good. I can handle the snafu delaying my truck repair (bars, bookstores, coffeeshops, grocery stores, and food are within walking distance, so what does it really matter?). I can handle the delay in getting my security deposit from the old apartment. But I really do not want my high speed internet to go out. I would get grumpy.

Those are the sorts of scenes that make great camera shots, but that I'm rarely lucky enough to get. Realistic shots of people who have no idea you're capturing them. While I was having coffee with Hanah earlier, I noticed an elderly man sitting at a table all by himself, occasionally talking to people. I loved the way he was dressed, and how it was complemented by the decor of the coffeeshop. I even had my digital camera with me. Unfortunately, I've spent ZERO time learning how to operate the damn thing, wasn't sure how to turn the flash off, and wound up not taking a photo of what was a perfect subject perfectly framed. Ah well.

I'm told that an unofficial poll indicated some surprise over my inclination to snail mail my congressman for help with the Postal Service situation. So here's a word of advice to everyone: if you EVER have ANY problem with a federal agency that you are having difficulty getting resolved, DEFINITELY get your congressional representative involved. Constituent services occupy a significant portion of a congressional office's time (at least the local offices) and resources, and help explain (along with "safe" districts) the ridiculously high re-election rates of incumbents. And given how much of our money the damn criminals take, they ought to provide excellent constituent services on occasion!

Apparently, MANY clients have been complaining about the newsletter (which I wrote about a while back), and the sales staff has even taken to mocking it. Kevin Whited laughed.
