Some Random Thoughts

My old work colleague and friend Graham Kellas is in Houston for nearly two weeks on business with his new firm, and we've managed to hit the pubs both nights he's been in town so far. The conversation last night was interesting, because I noticed that Graham seemed familiar with certain things that I didn't think he should know. And at one point when he mentioned "Ah yes, you wrote about that...." I finally realized that he's a fairly regular reader of the website. For some reason, it always jolts me to find out people I respect actually READ what I say here, and fairly carefully. It's flattering, and a little unreal sometimes.

Speaking of reading, I am really impressed with Pandora's Boxers, a blog I discovered yesterday. I haven't had time to explore it as much as I should, but Kat strikes me as one of the brightest, well-grounded new people I have run across in a while. Plus I really like her writing style, sense of life, and energy.

On the topic of people I like, we noticed Mary Cutrufello chilling and having a beer at Rudyard's last night. This reminded us to stop at Cactus Records on the way home and pick up her new solo acoustic self-release, Songs from the 6 (recorded at a Motel 6, strangely enough). Good stuff, although I like our live bootleg versions of a couple of the songs better.

I've been horrible about getting to the gym and have been eating badly the last few weeks, and both of these things have me feeling blar. I've been better about the diet this week, but just cannot seem to find the energy or will to make it to the gym, which isn't good, because I get cranky when I don't go regularly.

Flipping channels late last night brought to mind this observation: Star Trek I was a TERRIBLE movie. V-GER. Need I say more?
