Thought Streams

I made a trip to Home Depot today to get some supplies in preparation for tomorrow's project (tearing down the old insulation and mess). Interestingly, an hispanic man who spoke very broken English struck up a conversation with me inline (as often happens to me, for whatever reason). We had a fairly long visit about my project, and he agreed that the handyman had made a goddamn mess. Even though I could barely understand him, I could tell this man was competent. And interestingly, even though I'm feeling really anti-social right now, I was actually interested in chatting with him.

Tonight, we took in the Daily Review Cafe, which some people rave about. I am not one of those people and probably won't be returning. There was nothing offensive about it (or maybe there was, but why bother), but certainly nothing to recommend it to me.

After that, we did the other Shakespeare festival play, the classic Romeo and Juliet. My mind was elsewhere yesterday, so that may have made the difference (even though my mood was poor after dinner), but I thought tonight's performance was much stronger. I haven't been to this UH festival in several years, and it's always exceptionally well done, but I was surprised at the noticeable decline over the performances of several years ago. The decline seems to be in the actors and in the direction -- although it's entirely possible that the direction just turned me off. I'm curious what next year will hold.
