Back

I'm back from the Reno/Tahoe/Counting Crows/Glen Phillips grand adventure. I'll put together a travel journal at some point, with some spectacular photos of the Lake Tahoe area, but for now some random thoughts:

Reno is an armpit of a place.

Tahoe is paradise.

I MUST go backpacking on the Tahoe Rim Trail.

900-foot elevation changes that crest at 8000 feet are TOUGH for flatlanders from Houston.

The Counting Crows are an incredibly talented band. Adam is amazing (but not simply for the reasons most people think), but how many contemporary alt bands can throw together a floor bass, banjo, mandolin, and accordion and not have it sound like a bad accident? I have lots (of good things) to say about the new stuff they're working on.

Glen Phillips is also incredibly talented. I need to purchase his solo stuff.

The Mitsubishi Mirage was a sweet (cheap) rental car.

People have a CRAZED look running about the casinos.

Having an affinity for mathematics, I had no inclination to give away my money to the casinos.

I'm not sure why people spend serious money to go talk through a Counting Crows show.

A big thanks goes out to the Lovely Evelynne, for keeping things running smoothly while I was away. She does such a nice job!
