Allison's Wake

As it turns out, not the best situation for a Dodge 4-speed automatic transmission!

I only thought I escaped serious water damage during the flood. I got my truck back from Callie's brother's shop today. He performed the maintenance I wanted -- including the transmission fluid change. Only problem: somehow water during the flood got IN the allegedly sealed transmission case (maybe it's vented from the top?) and mixed with the fluid. So, while it was shifting fine -- and still is -- he was unable totally to flush the water. I'm going to have to have a complete transmission overhaul, and probably soon. The car's comprehensive insurance should cover it, minus a significant deductible, but I had to call my agent, who has to file a claim, and now I have to wait for the Farmer's adjuster to come out and physically look at it (like he will be able to tell anything visually), and then -- well, I really don't know where the process goes from there. What I do foresee is that it's going to take a goddamn lot of time and bureaucratic bullshit, which takes energy I would rather expend on other things.
