Blar

The floodwaters have receded, but things are far from normal. My work offices are out of commission at least for a week, which isn't all that much of an inconvenience, since I prefer to work from home anyway. We're still trying to get unpacked and settled in, but what would otherwise be excitement has been dampened by the flood and other woes. For one thing, Callie's dad -- whose behavior has been odd for the last few weeks -- has now been hospitalized, and a psychiatrist has determined that the MRIs done several weeks ago (interpreted as "normal") instead show several very minor strokes (minor as strokes go, I guess). The prognosis is good for full mental recovery, but the dialysis has already taken a physical toll, so we will just hope for the best. Additionally, another of our good friends was scheduled to go in today for major, urgent surgery -- except that the flooding in the Texas Medical Center corridor has forced it to be postponed. And our upstairs landlord's wife's cousin was killed in a freak accident over the weekend, and she has flown off to be with the family out of state.

Blar.
