On Day 49, the Fire Hydrant was repaired.

Nonetheless, Lee Brown's America lives on.

Disrespect

This paragraph was originally a rant about two instances of disrespect (one from a colleague, one from a friend) that annoyed (even hurt) me today, but that's going to be the first instance of my keeping something I've written for a journal entry "private" from the online version, the main reason being that I know certain people read this journal, and I don't want this to be a forum in which I appear to point fingers and whine.  I see too many instances in online journals where the writer is obviously trying to make a point to someone (or trying to rant about someone so that person will see it and respond).  That's not my intent.  If I have something to say to someone, I will say it TO them.  So the only hint I will give to the loyal readers is this (since private entries suck): it's shitty to be invited to dinner and then quite obviously rushed along and dismissed because the person who invited one would rather go to a party for the ex-husband of a friend of a friend.  Nice.

Callie's day was about on par with what I describe in my private entry.  She got to watch a dog get hit by a car.  Nice.

But at least the fire hydrant was repaired today, so if Cro-Magnon falls asleep downstairs smoking a cigarette, the fire can be extinguished now.

And on a much happier note, our email from the folks at Trudy's Bitching Hats was good for the soul.  Many thanks to the Band!  Indeed, rereading that, coupled with the (sometimes) therapeutic nature of writing a private "rant" styled journal, has raised my spirits considerably since I got home.
