Micah and Gladys have had their baby. He left me a message while we were out at the restaurant Monica unknowingly insisted we go to last night. By the time I got in from dinner, the hospital switchboard was off. I couldn't get through today either, but left a message on his home machine. Congratulations to Micah and Gladys!

Today was like Monday, except more irritating because, in addition to being unable to catch Micah to offer congratulations, I had to deal with traffic and bumbling people who would not get out of the damn way all day. It has left me extremely irritable, and like Monday, extremely tired. I will probably head to bed by 10 pm. This is unusual for me. It's also unusual to be so irritable -- I haven't been this way in many many months.

The official website has left me embarrassed that I've even bothered to promote this band I like. Then again, one of the reasons I put up my site is because the official one was so shitty. Perhaps I should instead view the whole thing as vindication.

Callie dashed off an email (does one dash off email?) to the City of Houston about the fire protection situation today. So far, no response. I don't expect that it will suddenly become a priority.

There has been talk today of reinventing the political risk stuff we do, so that it's not simply the old paper political risk reports delivered over the web now, but instead takes advantage of the new media and delivery mechanism. This makes sense, because the web gives one the ability to generate custom documents on the fly, at the direction of the user. However, I'm hesitant to put much personal intellectual capital into the endeavor because, like everything else at that place, good ideas will be chased out by bad. In other words, it will be a waste of time to THINK about improving things instead of just muddling along as usual. That's some corporate culture.
