Under Control

The title of today's journal entry is one of those nifty little code phrases that will remind me when I look back at today's journal of something quite amusing that happened at work today, but that I really probably should not write about in a public forum.  In fact, I like the code phrase so much that it's going to be my theme at the office this week.  All I will say here is that sometimes a-holes do get exactly what they deserve, but they are sometimes so dumb (despite thinking they're smart) that they don't even know it.  Today was one of those "sometimes." I just wish I could have been present to see parts of it that I missed.  Oh well!

Email me if you really want to know what I'm talking about.

The thumbnail on my "miscellany" cell above is a digital photo that John shot today of the ceramic bulldog in front of my apartment, which I describe in my 23 October journal entry.  It is a damn funny thing.  A big thanks to John for shooting it!  It will probably disappear one of these days, despite the fact that it's falling apart.

I had an excellent workout tonight, although it was a chore to pull myself together at 9 pm and get to the gym.

I had a good long chat with Hallmark today about the dissertation, and I still think I can have the substantive chapters completed by the end of the year.  I was doubting it after spending October doing everything but the dissertation (but I deserved a vacation), but I still think if I can complete this current chapter by December 1, then I can finish the next chapter in December.  I may be guilty of being overly optimistic.  We shall see.

Coming tomorrow:  my final prediction on the Presidential election.
