Gigot

The final jolt came today when I went to OpinionJournal to look for the familiar Paul Gigot Friday column -- always a wonderful bit of insight on whatever subject he chose to cover -- and remembered that last week was it for Gigot, who is taking over the WSJ editorial page.

I've thought for the past couple of months that the editorial page could use some help. I don't know if Robert Bartley has pulled back somewhat during the transition, but many of the articles have been stale in terms of writing and substance. If Gigot proves half as good about finding writers and articles with the sort of insight he provided regularly from his own columns, the page should remain a mainstay for thoughtful libertarian and conservative types.

It is STILL raining today, and rain remains in the forecast as far out as it goes. The rain started roughly when Graham got in from London on Sunday, and has continued. We've not had a single stretch of sunlight since. Just this gray, wintry, blarness. The lower temps were nice at first, but I'd be fine with the 98 degree/high humidity combination we HAD been suffering through just prior to the onset of gray blarness. Oh well -- at least the rain has been relatively light, if steady. Things could be worse.
