A good use of Greek wine

A political crisis brews in Greece as fires rage (Ian Fisher and Anthee Carassava, NY Times)

When the water ran out, with pinecones popping and the flames still high around his house, George Dimopoulos switched to wine. He made it himself two years ago, and, nearly alone in his village as it all but burnt down on Friday night, he poured liter after liter, 200 in all, into his little copper hand-pumped crop sprayer

  • Life is too short to drink cheap or bad wine!!

  • Take a bath in it. Seriously:

Before Botox, Marie Antoinette washed her face daily with red wine. Just use a soaked cotton ball and rinse well.

  • I say the next BH gathering should be at the Athens Bar & Grill (if it’s still open…haven’t been ther in 15 years).

  • From what I’ve <ahem> *heard*, some Greek BEER, however, has little bits of a strange leafy substance in it that enhances the buzz.

And makes you wear tye-dye and follow Phish around the country.

  • This is priceless….I know what I shall do with my next bottle of red!

    Thanks Mary Mc !!

  • Those "little kids" were 95-year-olds before they set foot in that wine bath.

Not only does it prevent wrinkles, it reverses the aging process like nothing else!

  • How does Greek wine compare to Hall Always Save Vineyards?

  • What I’ve had is a little better than the Hall varieties, but only a little. 😀

  • That does it Mary Mc…I shall have
to bathe in it…I bet it is better
    than milk.
All I can say is if it does not work, what a waste of wine…and I am holding you responsible!!

  • Cleopatra bathed in milk and honey, and olive oil baths.

Not so glamorous…apple cider vinegar (rich in alpha-hydroxy)…avoid eyes…soak your feet/hands in it, rinse well.

Apple cider vinegar foot soaks and honey facials while you are on the Net…who needs a spa?

Aside from milk and honey, dilute the others.

    …and don’t forget sugar as a scrub.

  • And I just happen to have a sugar scrub…you must have been a beauty advisor in a former life, huh?
I think I will skip the vinegar and honey tho…can you imagine the smell with the vinegar?? Wow! We could always disinfect with white vinegar? Our ancestors did so…
Ahhh the olive oil treatment sounds heavenly….hoping one would not slide all over..

  • No past life, one life to live…just love history. Too bad…Hippocrates loved honey and vinegar too.

  • You bet you are.
I love a man who will cook for me..

And with wine too, you really are
    blessed!
I hope you saved some to drink!!
    Enjoy!

  • Update: So, while I was soaking my runner’s calloused feet in stinky exfoliating apple cider vinegar, my husband was preparing a crock pot pork dish marinated in white wine…such heavenly aromatherapy I woke up to! I am truly a blessed woman. 🙂

  • Thank you, whilo (as I type with Mogen David swabbed on my face)… 🙂
