Enron: They Can't Write Either

I read this post (interestingly, from a local blogger) on the whole "weblog as reformation" mini-orgy, and I can't say I disagree with any of it. I would only add that I imagine that it's easy, for some, to get caught up in the excitement of blogging and forget just how few people are really being "influenced" by any of it. Humans have a tendency to inflate their own self-importance. Some humans are worse about it than others. :)

Getting fit seems popular among the liberty-loving/objectivist-leaning crowd. So I guess I should mention that I made it to the gym again tonight, and I've found that I now prefer the aerobic part of my workout routine to the weight training. For several years, it's been just the opposite. Weird.

Surely, in the litigious society we live in, some lawyer can find a way to win a due-process suit over this ridiculous IRS plan. First Paul O'Neill brought over his workplace safety nuttery from Alcoa (in whose smelters it probably had a place). Now he's brought back the gestapo-style IRS. Nothing will destroy the goodwill created among taxpayers by Mr. Bush's tax cuts than a detailed audit FOR NO REASON. Surely Karl Rove understands the political implications. Right? Maybe one of the a-list bloggers can point it out to him. :)

Speaking of bloggers -- I wonder what implications this has for those tip jars that are all the rage. Is that taxable income? Does anybody know?

So, I just can't help but write this, since everyone is piling on right now: if this V-P at Enron was as bad at placing decimal points as she is at using commas, it's no wonder that the company went belly up. In fact, it's a miracle it stayed afloat as long as it did.

Jeff Jarvis's entry "Left ... Right ... Wrong" is a useful reminder.
