The website got some tweaking tonight to reflect its somewhat more serious nature.

The design changes -- additions really -- are minor. I've modified the stylesheet for the weblog to highlight in navy when I have written additional comments in my journal and/or essays.

The change in direction of the website is more significant. Since the events of 11 September, the site has become much more serious and much more focused on international politics and political philosophy. Given my expertise and interest in these fields -- passions really -- it should not be surprising that the site has become almost exclusively focused on the current crisis. If I can't be in the Pentagon right now (as I lamented previously, final paragraph), I can at least attempt to educate via the blog and my own commentary. I've also been motivated to respond to all the ignorance -- the Blame-America spewing, the Blame-Israel spewing, the Anti-Imperial spewing, the Moral-Equivalence spewing, and the like. The quandary for me has been: how does one engage such ignorance without somehow endorsing both the views and the methods of the proponents?

My solution: to write more, and more seriously, here.

This is not to say that the site is going to lose my sarcasm or edgy sense of humor, or even vignettes like these. Those things are part and parcel of me. But I am going to address more issues in more detail and more seriously relative to what I have before. There will certainly be fewer "I had a good dinner then worked on the dissertation" personal journal entries. That's just where I am right now.
