Writing Journal

One of the tasks I neglected when I completed Chapter Three was to update my dissertation journal, which I've done tonight. I'm left with two fairly significant sections in the next chapter (first, a review of early 20th-century Legal Realism, which for my purposes can pretty much be equated with Progressive Legal Theory as derived from Progressive Political Theory, and second, a more specific review of the attack on Lochner-era police powers juriprudence by Progressive legal theorists), neither of which should be as big a pain in the ass as the two sections of Chapter Three.

I wonder how many people keep journals for large writing projects (theses/books/novels/etc)? I can't imagine NOT doing so, given the way I work (bursts of energy and writing followed by lulls), because I just can't keep everything straight in my head.

I've been in about a weeklong state of decompression, where I have not been very energetic intellectually -- and instead have done lots of surfing, occasional short commentary in LJ and elsewhere, and not much other writing or research of note. I tend to do this after completing projects. I think I'm coming out of it tonight, and I'm finding myself short on time to get things done. Time for a trip to the gym to exacerbate the time shortage!
