Float Trip
I did not keep any sort of record of this year's float trip festivities. No tape recorder, like last year. No notepad, like other trips. I didn't even take any photos, despite taking the digital camera (it just got dark every night before I could shoot any, and I don't like flash photos taken in the night). I was going to do a detailed retrospective of the thing here, but I've decided to keep it brief instead. Overall, it was one of the best of these trips I have done, although one of the least rowdy. The group was good -- college friends and family who all meshed nicely, unlike some past efforts. The weather cooperated for the most part (a little chilly some nights, and a little rain one night), unlike last year's floods. We floated a raft one day, and Callie and I took out a nice sit-on-top kayak the second day, which was a good combination. We did not make it to the bar up the road this year for live music -- just too tired by the end of the day, plus the campsite proved entertaining enough this time.
In summary, it was a much-needed trip to some beautiful country and certainly a more mellow lifestyle, even if our campsite didn't exactly represent the primitive sort of backcountry experience I usually crave when I want to "get away." Now it's time to start planning next year's event.

I owe the Lovely Evelynne a big thank you. She did an excellent job guest blogging while I was away! Even with the pressure that comes with being the very first guest blogger here. :)
