Oh Dear

Forgive me for being a pessimist, but this is NOT the message I wanted to see as I begin my Monday at work:

The Novell NetWare client upgrade process will begin on Tuesday May 15.

We need each user to be at a certain client revesion [what?] to implement the latest version of Novell's administration technologies.

Although this will be an automatic upgrade run during login, we intend to choose a certain number of machines per day as to alleviate any potential downtime.[But I thought all bugs were worked out? See below.]

We have been testing the Automatic Client Update utility for several weeks and now have all of the bugs [ALL OF THEM?! HMMM] worked out of this routine. We can now provide you with the latest client with a minimum amount of time invested on your part [I have been waiting for this day!].

During the next week each of you will receive an email from the IT department the day before we intend to hit you with the client update [doesn't "hit you" say it all?]. It will be run at login time and will require no user intervention.

After logging in you will see the upgrade take place and your machine will not leave the login script box until the upgrade has finished, then it will automatically reboot your machine. This update could take anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes to complete [unless all of the bugs really HAVEN'T been worked out!]. Please do not turn your machine off as it may destroy operating system files and the ACU will not give up until it has been successfully installed.[Persistent ACU? I'm getting worried]
