Is Spring Finally Here?
It's gratifying when people read things here and drop an encouraging line. Here's a little cheerier post for those of you who have done just that: I just paid a call on the downtown office of The World's Largest Oil Company (I prefer that name to their real name) and it went extremely well -- even had an attorney in the crowd who confirmed my (brilliant) assessment of the political risk situation in Yemen (which is one of my favorite analyses -- yeah, I know, I need to get a life). After the meeting, I promptly went downstairs, ditched the tie, swapped the hard soles for hiking shoes, and walked home. Magnificent! It's about 25 minute walk from the heart of downtown to my apartment, the weather is warm, breezy, and sunny, and it's a splendid spring morning in Houston!
And tonight, steak at the newly discovered Hofbrau steakhouse with good friends, followed by the Groobees at the (not so) Fabulous Satellite Lounge, which shouldn't be too bad on a Wednesday night. It's all good!
But I should really do some work now.... on Uganda, another fun country!
