Micah and Parenthood

I spoke to Micah just a little while ago. He's taken the big step -- becoming a parent last week. He's been so calm in the time leading up to it, but admitted that now that the birth has taken place, it's a whole new ballgame. He's now a PARENT, and every little movement is cause for either alarm or joy. A pretty amazing thing, parenthood, for what it does to people.

I just don't have the yearning to become a parent, however. I know everyone speaks of the rewards, but it's SO much responsibility. I can barely take care of myself. And the dog! A little person? Mind-boggling.

Callie and I did rescue two labs today who had escaped from their owners up the street. We penned them up for a few hours and finally their owners showed up to claim them. So Callie didn't have to witness more dogs getting hit by cars. Our weekend was much better than our week, to be sure!

Congrats and welcome to the club, guys! It only gets better from here. Until it gets worse. And then, you're pretty much screwed. These words have got me through many of the early days of fatherhood.... Sleep is for the weak!
