Guests

I spent much of today cleaning some of the messes in my apartment after taking the day off work, and then it was time to pick up my parents from the airport.  It's good to have them in town for a few days.  The last time they were in Houston, I lived way out in west Houston (almost New Mexico really!) and was still sort of a transient -- the wayward grad student who still didn't necessarily belong to this place.  Now, I have actual ties to the city and live in the inner-city in a colorful neighborhood, so it's nice to be able to show them more things now.  It also drives home to me -- despite all of the complaints I hear from many people -- how much I like this city.

Tomorrow I'll take them to the Icehouse, and I'm not really sure what else we'll do while they're here.  They enjoyed meeting Kiwi tonight.  But who wouldn't?  :)
