Black Fork Mountain

No odd rustling in the woods last night, but we did hear coyotes howling fairly nearby.  I always enjoy hearing the coyotes.

I nursed a couple of very small blisters a bit in the morning, and later we took a hike up to the Black Fork Mountain wilderness area (trailhead just back east of us a bit).  About half a mile into that hike, there's a brilliant campsite.  Again, one would have to pack in the water, but I definitely plan on staying there at some point.  It's splendidly isolated.

Black Fork Mountain is great.  We hike up that puppy some 750, and loop around in such a way that we're looking across at Rich Mountain and also Queen Wilhelmina Lodge from where we had come on Monday.  It's a great sense of accomplishment actually to view the terrain we've covered.  And the view is spectacular -- photos for the backpacking section are soon forthcoming.  We get back to camp, have a huge lunch, and I take my customary catnap in the sun.  The weather just keeps getting better.

We resupply our water using the same water source, but this time we get there via the railroad tracks.  It's an easier hike that way, and I'm terribly sore in my quads, and all joints today (especially one hip), so it feels good.  We had an excellent dinner upon returning, cleaned up camp, and watched a brilliant moonrise!  I played with the camera some and hope I captured it.  Night photography is something I know nothing about.  We'll see how the photos turn out.
