Astros Re-Sign Ausmus
I've got to post this before it changes:
Ausmus, a two-time Gold Glove winner, hit .229 with four home runs and 47 RBIs for the Astros last season. He finished second among major league catchers with a .997 fielding percentage. In the past three seasons in Houston, Ausmus hit .256 with 63 home runs and 430 RBIs.Anybody care to point out what's wrong with this?

That's more RBIs than I'd imagine he had hits...

*ding ding ding*
Alex nails it!
Apparently, as the Comical was running this AP story (because why cover local news yourself when the AP feed is available?!), they didn't even bother to check that last line, which lists Brad's CAREER numbers. Sure wish we had a catcher who'd knocked in 430 runs in 3 years though!

Whew! I'm glad Alex posted first. I immediately presumed you were bitching about the fact that the Astros had re-signed Ausmus, a .229 hitter. Saved from a protective tirade here (blush).

Unlike Kuffner (http://www.offthekuff.com/m...), I actually like this move. The salary figure for 2005 could bite them, but I think the contract is designed to move Ausmus by then if need be.
He'd really be a bargain, though, if he were knocking in 430 runs every 3 years!
