Jayhawks Coming To Houston
I see the Jayhawks are listing a Continental Club-Houston date: 13 November.
That should be one good show. This is one of the few bands I care to go see on a dreaded Thursday night.

Kevin -- another performer who you may want to see, Hayes Carll. http://www.hayescarll.com He is absolutely brilliant. He often plays at the Mucky Duck, and Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe in Galveston. Just thought I might broaden your horizons.

Anyone who reads the Houston Press or Rusty's Mucky Duck emails certainly knows Hayes Carll! I've seen him once or twice, and have to admit it's not really my cup of tea.
The Jawhawks, on the other hand, are one of those great bands lurking in the background of so much of the alt-country movement (even in their current configuration). They don't get as much attention in the Houston Press (because they're not local, of course), but no alt-country fan should miss 'em. Even on a Thursday night. :)

The Jayhawks are awesome, you lucky bastard. I can't say as the new CD is as strong as their early work, but they are good. Saw them open for the Black Crowes in '93. Good stuff.
That reminds me, I should check for whether they'll have any mid-America dates.
