La Russa
So, Tony La Russa is whining about the umpires after the Astros (surprisingly) pushed his team around this weekend:
St. Louis manager Tony La Russa says umpire Jerry Crawford has "made it a point to get us" and could cost the Cardinals games this season.Even if the guy is "out to get" the Cards -- which is really pretty fantastic -- it's a long season and there are plenty of other umpires. At some point, you shut up and play the (162) games, and that decides things.
[snip]"We've had problems with that umpire for how many years now?" La Russa said. "We had one incident at home where he disrespected our coaches. He's made it a point to get us. It's tough enough to win in this league.
"Who knows if we would have won, but when you keep getting kicked in the guts like this guy did ... He's going to get us worse the next time."

That's my biggest problem with baseball (and basketball). So many games the individual ones don't matter so much.
