Why not make them play football?
China orders chubby children to waltz (Telegraph)
China's education ministry has published plans to make the country's children take up dancing to combat obesity.
The ministry says it has designed seven "group dances" that will appeal to youngsters of all ages.
Under the proposals, middle-high school pupils - the equivalent of our sixth-formers - will be forced to learn to waltz.
[snip]
The dance lessons would be in addition to regular physical exercise classes, which are already compulsory in Chinese schools. The ministry said it intends to send out videos so that teachers can learn the dances first.
Waltzing?
They couldn't go for a sport of some sort?

One of the hardest things I've ever done was ballet classes twice a week. It put me in the best shape of my life in a matter of a few months. I played football and baseball all through school, and I'm telling you, serious dance classes--ballet, jazz, modern, etc., are the way to go. If you have a serious teacher, he or she will put a hurting on you. And not to sound too Neanderthal, but being one of the few (or only) straight men in a room full of women in leotards isn't half bad either.

This is the opposite of "Footloose."
I can see the movie posters now for "Foottight."
With Bizarro Patrick Swayze, and the tagline "DANCE OR DIE!"
