Busy doing nothing, travel bureaucrat edition
DHS: Carry-on restrictions to remain for 'foreseeable future' (Dennis Schaal, Travel Weekly)
Don't expect the Transportation Security Administration's restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on bags to evaporate any time soon.
Kathy Kraninger, director of the Dept. of Homeland Security's Office of Screening Coordination, said she thinks the restrictions are "here for the foreseeable future, at least."
Responding to a delegate's question following her speech to the Association of Corporate Travel Executives' conference here earlier this week, Kraninger said the DHS has not identified technology up to the task of identifying liquid explosive materials.
Kraninger noted that the government is conducting research and development on the issue in the hopes that it can ease the restrictions.
But, Kraninger added that she expects these rules limiting liquids, gels and aerosols to remain in place "for some time."
It's important to keep the world's skies safe from four-ounce containers of shampoo, after all!
It's good to know America's bureaucrats handle some tasks well.

Please don't publish my last comment. I had some wine with dinner.

Hmm, well, no comment ever came through, which is kind of disappointing. You've made it sound like a good one! :)

Well,
long time Kevin, I'm in the Middle east, no carry on restrictions in liquid form unless its alcohol then when you land in Britain, the craziness starts. they make you shove your lap top into checked baggage along with cell phone, ipod, I'm even surprized that they don't rip out pacemakers as well.
Be carefull over at LST they are getting tired of people pointing out that someone wasn't Gods gift to the Senate :)
Hate to see you get banned :)

Eh, I like to drop in and liven things up from time to time.
Danno's okay on some things, but he's just misguided on the 2/3 rule, and on the notion that the lege should meet more often. Limited-government advocates should recognize the 2/3 rule and the short, infrequent legislative sessions for what they are -- good!
I don't think Bramanti will ban me. I think he likes to have one or two commenters who dare to use big words on occasion. :)
And Benzion probably won't either. His style is to send email F-Bombs to me and my better half. Because, you know, that's how gentlemen behave. :)

I like big words. I grew up in a big word family.
Re: My first comment above--I had two of my yearly average of 12 glasses of wine, and was concerned I may have offended someone. I'm not p.c., just trying to work on the dragon lady side of me that can crawl out after imbibing two glasses of Merlot. Actually, I have found it is too much work being a dragon lady...painting those long dark red fingernails like a villainess in an old James Bond movie, and besides, those nails slow down my typing speed...yet I have found that by being nice, I don't get any comments on http://www.FortBendThinker.us, except by some local candidates and our good lawyer friend...sweetness bores, I suppose.
Ah well, maybe some gossips will have inferred that I have a drinking problem by now, but I like helping people and making people happy, even gossips. :)
Thanks again so much Kevin, for letting me plug my site...you are a true gentleman.
P.S. Be careful in the Middle East, Mr. Johnson...my dear deceased brother served our country there and I have made friends of people who have fled from thereof.
