Red wine stocks: High; Credibility of Houston weathermen: Low
Most Houstonians know that our local weather forecasters overhype everything, and that the actual threat of icy weather (or a hurricane) when they start carrying on about it is nil.
Still, my stock of red wine this morning was way too low to take any chances. One of the few good things about living in this part of Midtown is that Spec's is nearby. I just finished a quick run, and the red wine stocks are now sufficient for the predicted overnight weather apocalypse.

News 8 Austin this morning, I swear, kept repeating over and over how dangerous it was to go and fetch the newspaper from the porch/yard, and to take extra precautions when doing so. Cracked me right up.

My wife has been sitting by the fire, drinking champagne, and watching them sweat it out on the courts at the Australian Open.

Yesterday I heard one local weatherman refer to the 31 degree forecasted low as a hard freeze.
*sigh*

This morning's KTRH news report included a "frost" sighting. Said breathlessly, too.
