Joel update
I missed some of Joel O$teen on The Tube while out recording this week's Bad Sports podcast.
However, the thrust of this week's "sermon" seems to be that once you repent, then you can think all sorts of good thoughts about yourself.
So, one presumes that once Mr. Osteen's lovely wife repented for her temper tantrum on a Continental jet, she quickly moved on to thinking good thoughts about herself. We would expect no less from Mrs. Pastor Osteen.
This is some kind of religion the Osteens advocate!
BTW, Callie says she saw David Carr as the camera panned the crowd before I got home. I hope he has repented and is feeling good about himself. However, as we pointed out on the as yet unposted podcast, it's not likely to matter much against Philadelphia.

I'm not a Christian, nor am I a big supporter of Osteen, but I was a Christian for nearly 22 years of my life and I don't exactly remember the idea that after I repented, I was supposed to self-flagilate for an extended period of time before being allowed to return to happiness. Maybe I'm missing something.
And while I'm asking, what is the length of time one must self-flagilate after rude behavior on an airplane? Just for future reference. :)

I don't think I advocated self-flagellation in this post, so I'm really not much help.
I'd suggest you email Mr. Osteen your question. It was his "sermon" not mine. It would be pretty cool if his church started a Q/A blog! Who knows, maybe they already have one?
I just watch The Tube some Sundays and comment. I'd YouTube some of it, but I imagine God as interpreted by Joel is protected by copyright. God as Self-Help is big business these days! :)
