The Only Question Is When They Make The Announcement
NFL job's in mix as Texans, Casserly plan ahead (John McClain, Houston Chronicle)
When Texans owner Bob McNair returns from the Kentucky Derby next week, he will meet with Charley Casserly to see if the general manager wants to stay on the job in his seventh year with the franchise.
Casserly has been a candidate for NFL vice president of operations and development, a position vacated when Art Shell returned to the Oakland Raiders as head coach.
Casserly's house disappeared from the HAR.com website not long after the price was reduced by $500,000. If he was that anxious to sell his house, my guess is he's not sticking around Houston.

Thanks for sticking us with Mario Williams before you left, a guy who got 10 of his sacks on three college offensive tackles, and who was surrounded by two other first round draft choices on the NCState D line.

On the news the other night, Bob McNair was asked if he wanted Casserly to stay on with the Texans. McNair gave one of those standard "he's done a fine job, we'll sit down and see what the future holds" answers that didn't seem to be a ringing endorsement.

I think the Txans should hire the Chron's John Lopez as their next GM. His thoughts are prophtic:
Once the Texans decided that David Carr was their quarterback, once they rated Bush's talents superior to any other prospect's, once they chose to pass on Young, this draft choice was over.
Mario Williams stood about as much a chance of becoming the No. 1 pick as he would catching Bush in an open field.

I thought the same thing. The Texans should not hire me as GM. :)
