Boys From Oklahoma

There's good music tonight at the Firehouse for folks who like the Oklahoma red-dirt sound.

Stoney Larue is opening for Jason Boland.

Cover is a little steep ($15). I imagine there will be a decent crowd. I'm probably going, although it's not certain just yet.

Tomorrow, another Okie band (No Justice) will be opening for the great Billy Joe Shaver. That's an excellent twinbill, and definitely where I will be if I stay in town Saturday (doubtful).

How crowded was it. When I left and last time I was down there, Boland was getting to the point that I couldn't enjoy the shows due to an excess of people. The high cover may have alleviated that problem, though.

I'll let you know about the crowd if I go. It may also be the case that we get there and turn around because it's so crowded. Not sure if I'm in the mood for that tonight. I'd like to catch Stoney LaRue at least, but I hate to drop $15 just on him....

Well, I skipped the thing. I was exhausted from a good (but long) week of workouts, and just wanted to be lazy last night.

I had a crappy week and just stayed home as well. I'll probably do the same tonight, though I certainly would like to see Billy Joe Shaver.

No Justice opening would be really good too!

I was headed out of town, but I'm just worn out. I may make it to that show for a while, but I don't know if I'm up for the crowd. I may just stay home and watch K-State whip my Sooners. :)

I'm with you on the crowd thing. At this point I would be likely to go if No Justice were playing by themselves.

Since I'm (mercifully) not an okie, I had no idea who No Justice was.

But Billy Joe Shaver was overawing.

For those of us who grew up in Texas listening to honkytonk, Billy Joe is a legend. His voice is still true and strong, and he was nice enough to hang around and visit with us nerdy fans.

Another great show at the Firehouse. Best $10 I've spent in a while.

Got to by more Billy Joe.

"by" = buy.

Q: In what manner and to what extent can John spell?

A: Very poorly; very little.

Ear-regardless, Billy Joe still rocks.

And KSU still sucks.

John: Wow, cover was only $10? What a deal!

I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting out to either show this weekend, but I was dragging.

The OU game did perk me up a bit. :)
