This Post-Objectivist Doesn't Stray Far

I took this fun political quiz, and got the following results:

You are a

Social Moderate
(41% permissive)

and an...

Economic Conservative
(80% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Capitalist

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

loc: (-32, 112)
modscore: (48, 25)
raw: (4528)

Here are a couple of the fun graphics with my location plotted:

I have no real problems with my plot (it's kind of fun to see where a self-described post-Objectivist winds up), although I do LOVE the placement of John Kerry right there in the middle as a centrist/moderate. *wink wink*

Glad you made it through relatively unscathed. I know from thunderstorms, too; I grew up in Amarillo.

It'll probably come as no surprise that I came out as a strong Democrat, social and economic liberal. Like you, well developed right and wrong, and economic fairness.

I think it's interesting to note the rightward shift that political thought has taken in this country over the last 30-40 years. Although of course it's hard to look at it completely objectively, I don't think my beliefs have changed that all that much since I first started thinking seriously about politics, and this poll had me really close to the edge of the socialist spectrum, and I take issue with that. I'm 50, and became vitally interested in politics because I was of draft age during Vietnam.

Anyway, at the time, my positions on most things were considered fairly middle of the road. Medicare and Medicaid were extremely popular; in fact, the entirety of the Great Society was popular. LBJ had been overwhelmingly reelected. It was only Vietnam that brought him down. Richard Nixon was liberal by today's standards; he began the EPA, he initiated wage and price controls, etc.

My point is that the far left doesn't really even exist as a political force any more, the middle left has become the far left, the center has become the left, etc. I'm no Hillary Clinton fan, but they have her in the socialist area, and that's ridiculous. She came up with a health care plan in the early 90's that relied heavily on the insurance companies. That's hardly socialism.

I was a capitalist too, but a little more up the Y axis. I was just slightly on the other side of the social axis from you.

Who's the dude to Reagan's right? I assume that the guy to that guy's right is Pinochet?

Heck, there was no place for an Independent, Conservative, Populist maverick.

Hmmm. I came out as a capitalist-50% permissive social moderate and 75% permissive economic conservative-so I'm Donald Trump, they tell me, or rather, "BFG of Pawhuska". Interesting.

Glad you weathered the storm okay, Kevin. My cousin and her kids got through just fine and apparently their house is unscathed as well.

If you mirrored Kev on the y axis you'd be on top of me.

Is that Charles Manson just above The Donald? seems an odd placement for him....

Alex: is it O' Reilly?

I think it's Ted Nugent above the Donald.

Callie, I think you're right.

You landed right on top of George Bush - Maybe it should have said "Texan".

I landed smack dab on Thomas Jefferson...who they stuck between the Unabomber and some crazy looking guy I don't recognize. When did the Unabomber become a libertarian? Get the feeling a liberal put that photo collage together?

Tom: is the crazy guy Ted Nugent?

Look again, the Unabomber is out there under anarchist. This liberal would have made a special category somewhere off the chart for wacko wing-nuts to put him, but hey, that's just me.
