Danger!
KTRK-13 just reported a Danger Train collision at Main and St. Joseph.
I'll post a link if/when local news outlets post it to their websites.
UPDATE: HPD/HPD incident reports list a "major accident/non-fatal" at Main/St. Joseph at 5:42 and a "motor vehicle accident" at Main/St. Joseph at 5:48. So far as I know, train collisions are not identified in those incident reports, so these incidents are likely related to the Danger Train collision report by KTRK.
UPDATE 2: The Chronicle has the following report:
A MetroRail train struck a car trailer in downtown Houston this afternoon after a truck driver made an illegal turn into the path of the train, authorities said.
The accident happened about 5:45 p.m. when the driver towing the trailer turned onto St. Joseph Parkway from northbound Main, Metropolitan Transit Authority officials said.
The southbound train struck the trailer, injuring a woman riding in the truck. She was taken to an area hospital after complaining of neck pain. The train operator also was checked out at the hospital. None of the passengers on the train was injured, officials said.
Train service was restored on the southbound tracks within a half-hour of the accident. The truck driver was cited at the scene for making an illegal left turn, officials said.
By my count, that's Danger Train Collision #95, although it's entirely possible we'll find out later there have been crashes unreported by METRO.
UPDATE (07-06-2005): KTRK has posted its report of the collision:
The latest light rail accident is serving as a reminder for drivers in downtown to obey traffic signals.
The wreck happened on Main at St. Joseph. A truck towing a car Tuesday afternoon hit the light rail head on.
The force of the crash knocked the car off the flatbed. Police say the truck driver was just about to make an illegal left turn when he hit the train.
A passenger in the truck was treated for minor injuries.
RELATED COVERAGE: KHOU-11 (with video).
Tow drivers frequently act as if the rules of the road don't apply to them, but they usually get away with it because they're in big vehicles (people get out of the way) and we don't have enough police manpower to patrol the streets and keep order. Even so, they'd be well advised not to take on the Danger Train any more. It will win.

Channel 11 News showed the video of the crash last night. Also, Metro was in the middle of a meeting eleven floors above the crash site. They stopped and looked out of the window when they heard the bang. EEK! They'll have to report this one.

Oh, and they also interviewed the truck driver. He looked rather bewildered as he said, "I didn't see it."
