Where's Drew?
Okay, the dreadful Cowboys have made a team that has been crappy on its home field so far this season look like the return of Lombari's group.
It's 28-6. The Cowboys will not be winning this game, and after their first two drives haven't even competed.
It's not Vinny's fault, but I see no reason at this point not to get Drew Henson some snaps.
I'm not a GENIUS like Big Bill, but why the hell wait?
(Update) Okay, Testaverde stayed in and they went on a quick TD march to stay in the game (down by two TDs in the middle of the third quarter). See, I'm really NOT a GENIUS like Big Bill. :)
(Update 2) And the Packers went right through that Swiss cheese defense to answer with a touchdown of their own. The Cowboys will not win this game. It really is time to get Drew Henson some snaps.
(Update 3) Boy, that was a real stinker. 41-20. Good gawd. Good thing I took Green Bay in my weekly picks. :) Drew Henson inexplicably NEVER got in the game. If Parcells was trying to punish the team by keeping in the starters who didn't get it done, he was being foolishly shortsighted. If he actually thought he had a chance to win this game in the fourth quarter (when Henson should have been in the game), he was delusional. Either way, we're no further along knowing what Drew Henson can do.

I love the taste of grilled tuna on Sunday.
I guess the Packers weren't intimidated by all the Cowboy glory of seasons past. The post-game radio show is gonna be a blast.

The Cowboys don't beat the Packers at Lambeau. Of course, the Cowboys don't beat anyone anywhere of late.
I don't think you ever write off a season, but at some point, Henson has to get playing time. Today would have been as good a time as any. Although the way things are looking, he will get plenty more opportunities!
I can't wait to hear Big Bill either. If he can talk. That scowl on his face all game may have broken his mouth!

That was painful to watch (so I didn't). I think we'll hear louder natives' drums this week to see some Drew. The question is whether the Tuna will get all stubborn. Jones hates losing, but he hates even more looking like a fool, and staying with Vinnie for no good reason is foolish. First big Jones/Tuna clash??? It would give us something to write about.
Don't forget that we're in the middle of an election on the Arlington tax for the new JonesWorld. Losing and looking clueless isn't helping the Jerry cause.
PS Is Gary your 13 year-old neighbor? A Norwegian who just learned about football? That guy from Memento?

Scott: Now now, don't be mean to Gary C. He has great taste in music and isn't nearly so mean to me about my favorite teams in person! Besides, given this town's dismal sports achievements over the years, you can surely sympathize with our plight just a little. Hell, if I hadn't brought my Sooner and Cowboy allegiances to town, I don't know what I'd do. Maybe find a tape of the Rockets' 1996 season and watch it over and over and over.

Chaffin, earlier this year Kevin said that the Texans should go about their business of losing 9 or 10 games. It would be highly amusing if the 'Boys were actually the ones to make that lofty goal. So far, so good.

What you don't understand, or have never known, or is unfathomable to you, is that we have been there before. When you've been 1-15, 5-11 or 6-10 is nothing, because we know we're still gonna get our sixth Super Bowl win before Houston gets their first.

Heh. I (and millions like me) built the Ring of Honor. If I (and they) don't buy tickets, watch games, and support the team, they are not much. We're called fans.

I'll have both of you know that it was ME coaching 'em to those Super Bowl wins in the 90s! Right there on my couch. It wasn't Jimmah, and it wasn't Barruh, it was ME.
And I do fully expect Jerruh to recognize my greatness one of these days, and stick me on the ring of honor. Instead of a Tom Landry hat, though, there will be icons of a remote and a Shiner.

It's lame, period. REAL FANS use the first person plural. They aren't ironically detached from the action. Everybody likes it that way, too. It's part of the game, part of the compact between teams and fans. Unless you're just too cool for that kind of thing.
PS That's what you said two weeks ago. Are you getting emotionally involved? Careful, now.

Gary C: Well, I hope you don't abandon the football commentary, as it livens things up around here! Can't have folks just reading and nodding and never saying a thing!
Scott: "We" have to detach here, because it's a sucky sports town. Like "my" UH Cougars, who went to a bowl last year and probably aren't going to add another win to their ONE victory this year. THOSE season tix were sure a good investment. *sigh* I should just give up on anything at UH but Rayner Noble's baseball squad. I consider myself a Houstonian, but I'm also a realist! I still can't get excited about the Texans, but I do hope they'll prove me wrong on that 10 loss prediction.
