Not Gonna Sneak Up On Anyone This Year

This year's Dallas Cowboys are on track to be the most penalized team Bill Parcells has coached. EASILY.

They just manufactured a way to lose a game they had in pretty good shape with roughly two minutes left.

And it just has a feel that things are going to go that way this season.

So here's a question for the two Cowboys fans who might be reading this -- at what point do you bench Vinny Testaverde and start getting Drew Henson ready to be your quarterback?

Vinny has played okay, so it's not a knock on him, but the Cowboys brain trust (if that's not an oxymoron these days) have made it clear Henson is their guy, probably next year. They have an extra first-round pick for next year too, so they should be able to surround him with some impact players. Wouldn't it be better at some point this season to start getting ready for next year by letting Henson learn at full speed?

Who knows, maybe he's a quick learner and you wind up winning a few? Anything can happen in today's mediocre NFL.

Personally, I think it might be a little early for such a move. But what if the record goes to 2-4? 2-5? At what point do you make the move, if at all?

Right now...get him a series, then two, then a quarter, then a half. Let Vinnie be his tutor and the Big Tuna his Godfather. Except the Tuna doesn't really have any great gunslinger skins on the wall. But let's find out if we've got the next Hutchinson or the next Rothlisberger.

This season is done, BTW. The loss of Jones and the CB situation have done us in. You do the same thing with the CBs that show the most promise, too, BTW.

On the bright side, the Giants went another week without a loss.

It would be funny if the Texans won more games than Los Cocky Boys.

Los Cocky Boys have more Super Bowl and playoff appearances and a better win rate than anyone on the planet. It would be impressive if the Texans have 1/3 the record they have in, oh...let's say 20 years.

Los Cocky Boys haven't sniffed those lofty heights in a few years Scotty Boy. You need that surgery to get your head out your ass. Very touchy little man aren't we?

How many of those Super Bowls have come since the Texans started playing?

If there are any Cowboy fans in heaven, I'll just take my chances down below.

I love kids. History, wee one. Go read some. I recommend superbowl.com. We've earned the right to be cocky through our unprecedented success over the decades. I'll check back in a few years and see if yall have managed to hang on to this latest NFL football team, seeing as how you let your last one get away from you.

PS You'd be unhappy in heaven, anyway, since God is a Cowboy fan. You're probably too young to get that, so go ask your mama.

My goodness, I go off to cheer our Astros on to victory, and you kids just get plain MEAN with each other when I'm gone!

Houston's weird. They hate the Cowboys because, well, the Cowboys kick ass. But then they hate the Steelers (who they should love for owning the Cowboys) because, well, the Steelers thumped on their ass more than they thumped on the Boys (but in less important games). So they hate pretty much the two best franchises in the NFL. Sad. If only there hadn't been Kevin Gilbride... who knows what might have happened. Ah well.

I hope our Texans keep playing well. But I have to say, I wish David Carr would start acting like he's seen the endzone before. I'm getting tired of that running around arms waving like a child with special needs routine after EVERY touchdown. Gawd.

Go Giants!

Favre does the same thing, Kevin.

TP: True, he does. And I often gripe about the NFL trying to take all fun out of the game. Gawd knows. But still, something about the way Carr runs around just annoys me in a way that Favre doesn't. I won't claim it's rational. :)
