Blogs About Houston
So, for quite a little while now, I've been working on a new web project: a niche, Houston-centric blog that will focus on Houston politics, media, and life.
No design of mine ever seems "ready," but I guess it's close enough to throw open the doors to a few folks. Please go have a peek and see what you think. And especially, please let me know if something seems broken.
Interestingly enough, the Metroblogging Houston folks have also thrown open their doors to the public (talk about odd parallel developments). Their focus seems to be a little more on entertainment. I like it.

Congratulations on your new endeavor. I'll have to check it out from time to time.
I've been unimpressed with the NYC metroblog, and finally removed it from my subs. I know some of the Houston people and would probably do better with the Houston one, but I think the NYC one is aimed at folks younger and hipper than I am.

Houston's MetroBlog has a LOT of entries on their homepage, with many FULL-sized photos. I stopped the page from loading after a few minutes (I'm on dialup). Many of their headlines aren't very descriptive of what's in the entries either.
But I still think there might be interesting entries, so I'm going to try them out in Bloglines (hopefully I'll only get a few full-sized photos each time I load).
Yours and Callie's headlines do a great job of hinting at what's in the entry! I wouldn't say blogHouston has a formal tone, but it's not trying to be overly-trendy either (gagMemo)!
And it loaded a LOT fasther...THANKS!

Ginger: Those metroblog kiddos make me feel OLD. :)
Sherri: Thanks for the kind words! We're still figuring it out obviously, but it's always nice to hear positive feedback. And don't leave out Anne Linehan, who's posting like mad!

HTJ: Funny, our buddy Ken Layne suggests more photos too:

I don't think he has in mind doggie photos, though. :)
