Doctor Councilwoman To The Rescue
Doctor Councilwoman Shelley Sekula-Gibbs is hard at work on the "big issues" in our city.
A few weeks ago, she launched her effort to ban smoking in public places citywide.
Now, she's honed in on the problem "crisis" of national rail-freight congestion.
Ordinary Houstonians may be forgiven for wondering just how any of this affects them, and their skyrocketing property taxes, and the potholes that are destroying their cars, and the police cadet classes that are operating at well below the required replacement rate, and the precarious state of municipal bonds, and... well, you get the idea. It's sort of like a doctor focusing on a terminal cancer patient's acne....
Incidentally, a group opposed to Doctor Councilwoman's proposed smoking ban has put together a new website: HoustonSmokingBan.org

I stopped reading after I got to the phrase "national gross product" in the first paragraph. Anyone who is lacking a basic knowledge about economics should not be writing such editorials. Or perhaps this was more creative editing by the Comical?
