The Astros win the Carlos Beltran sweepstakes!
I haven't been paying much attention to the team for weeks, I have to admit, but I like this deal.
Beltran will improve that pitiful outfield, and the bat should be a nice addition.
Lots of commentary at the Astro in Exile blog, but any serious Astros fan has already read it before coming here. :)
Now if we can just complete that Jimy Williams for backup batboy deal, I think this team might have a chance.

Well, the astros did get beltran, but for what good? i guess down the road, but up here in d/fw, we just go through with our 2nd win in 2 gams against those same 'stros. just thought i would get a little dig in. I have been reading your blog for a year or more (a long time is all i know!).

Hey Paul! Thanks for dropping in. I fear that we could add $50 million in payroll, and still not finish in first with this manager. I hope I'm wrong....
Nice to see the Rangers playing well, though. I don't think anyone expected it.

I asked "what good did it do?" about beltran, and I guess that first amazing first inning catch shows what he can do. just a sampling of what to expect from him I suppose. Yes, the Rangers have actually made summer sports talk interesting around here. If they can stay in first place by the all star break they may actually keep the headlines from the cowboys training camp fodder!
