Okay, I haven't been paying much attention to the retarded Astros.
After the letdown of the Coogs' surging in the latter part of the season (taking series from both East Carolina and Tulane, who advanced to Super Regionals) only to fall short of a trip to the NCAAs, I just haven't cared much about baseball, especially overpaid prima donnas.
But this headline strikes me as backwards: Williams can't hide Astros' flaws
The fact that a regular columnist at the Comical has problems with subject-verb agreement, problems that are not corrected by editors, strikes me as backwards also, but that's beside the point.
Seriously. Come on. Haven't we all pretty much concluded that if the Astros do manage to win their division this year, it's going to be in spite of Jimy "I'm short a consonant" Williams?
It's going to be because Roger Clemens is man enough to strap the entire underachieving lot on his considerable back, and carry 'em all, retarded manager included?
I don't know if Rocket has it in him. I hope he does.
But if it happens, it's surely going to be DESPITE Jimy Williams, not because of him.
And I say that as someone who originally saw Jimy as "the answer" to Houston's problems. Proof that I can admit when I'm wrong, because I was surely wrong.

I saw a blurb in the Astros' notes over the weekend that Adam Everett has 19 sac bunts, the highest total in the NL since Neifi Perez had 23 in 1998. I said to myself "That, in a nutshell, is why Jimy Williams is an idiot and why the Astros have more to overcome than most other teams."
All I can say is thank God for Dusty Baker and Tony LaRussa, doing their level best as always to give other teams a sporting chance.
