Will Cragg Be Fair And Balanced?

The Comical's Cragg Hines slobbers on and on today about Justice Scalia's refusal to recuse himself from a case involving the office of the Vice President.

Local blogger Beldar has somewhat of a different take on the topic, and I'm admittedly partial to his view.

Just for the sake of consistency and fairness, though, I wonder if Cragg Hines will write a column next Sunday condemning Justice Ginsburg for not recusing herself from certain types of cases?

I'm not holding my breath.

Come on, Kevin, the two situations are not particularly analogous. While I have no problem with J. Scalia deciding not to recuse himself based on the legal standards for recusal, that does not mean that a judge going on a personal vacation alone with a litigant set to appear before him is anything like giving a speech before a special interest group.

The New York Times questions the wisdom of her ongoing association with advocacy groups here (http://www.nytimes.com/2004...). I don't think that's out of left field, given the recent interest in Scalia's associations.

I don't have a particular problem in either example, but I do suspect Mr. Hines is more attuned to the alleged misbehavior of Justice Scalia (whom he clearly despises). I nearly had to wipe Hines's spittle off my monitor after reading that piece.
