There They Go Again
The Comical is at it again in their reporting of the Clemens signing.
Note this little gem from Jose de Jesus Ortiz:
Clemens will also be a major box office draw, which is why McLane doesn't mind raising the payroll despite losing $15 million last year. That certainly looks familiar.
I've noted here and here the journalistic problem with treating the losses Drayton CLAIMS but that have not been VERIFIED INDEPENDENTLY as objective fact. They're not objective fact, and shouldn't be referred to that way.
I sent the Comical's reader representative an email the last time it happened, and never heard a peep back. I sent him another email today, but I'm not holding my breath. If anyone is so inclined, click here.
The guys on AM 610 were pounding on the Comical for the $15 million reference as I was driving home today. And Charles and Pete are pounding away on the web. Maybe if they get enough ridicule, they'll stop it.
Probably not, though. That's why they're the Comical, after all.

Drayton's total losses on the Astros would equal the annual GDP of the European Union.

I e-mailed the Comical. Will let you know if I get a response.

I was hoping you'd say something about this. Really pissed me off. Hope Fleck or Connolly from the Press reams 'em for it.
