Those Silly Dems
What a great quote:
Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, called the Senate vote an "illegal act" that attempts to "disenfranchise" each boycotting senator's constituents.Err, yeah, that's it. The losers don't bother to show up to engage in policymaking, but it's the GOP that's trying to "disenfranchise" the constituents of the losers?
Nice try. Now why not show up and represent your constituents?
"Disenfranchise" has become one of the least meaningful terms in American politics (right up there with neoconservative).

It's a bit disingenuous to say that the dems didn't "bother to show up". Whether we approve or not, they are *intentionally boycotting* the special sessions, not just playing hooky.

It's no less disingenuous than their (ab)use of the term disenfranchisement. Plus we're snarky here. It's a snarky blog 99% of the time. Some might put that percentage even higher. :)
